چکیده
Baby-led weaning is an approach to complementary feeding that emphasizes infant's ability self-feed rather than being spoon fed, and eat minimally-processed foods puréed foods. This study aimed investigate the variability in infant practices possible association with developmental milestones Italian population. A sample of 1245 mothers 6–12 month-old infants completed online survey about their attainment milestones. Infants' eating family food was positively related self-feeding a lower consumption As previous studies UK New Zealand, baby-led style associated breastfeeding, exposure around six months age, earlier both finger foods, higher interest shared meals. Infants who were introduced solid using more likely have met important milestones; when controlling for covariates, percentage sitting unsupported at age low spoon-feeding crawling age. These data suggest should be defined comprehensively. Moreover, its potential influence on domains beyond diet behavior warrants future targeted exploration.

Baby-Led Weaning: The Evidence to Date
PURPOSE OF REVIEW Infants are traditionally introduced to solid foods using spoon-feeding of specially prepared infant foods. RECENT FINDINGS However, over the last 10-15 years, an alternative approach termed 'baby-led weaning' has grown in popularity. This approach involves allowing infants to self-feed family foods, encouraging the infant to set the pace and intake of the meal. Proponents o...
متن کاملExperiences of baby-led weaning: trust, control and renegotiation.
Baby-led weaning (BLW) is an approach to introducing solid foods that relies on the presence of self-feeding skills and is increasing in popularity in the UK and New Zealand. This study aimed to investigate the reported experiences and feelings of mothers using a BLW approach in order to better understand the experiences of the mother and infant, the benefits and challenges of the approach, and...
متن کاملDevelopment and pilot testing of Baby-Led Introduction to SolidS - a version of Baby-Led Weaning modified to address concerns about iron deficiency, growth faltering and choking
BACKGROUND In Baby-Led Weaning (BLW), infants are offered 'finger' foods from the start of the complementary feeding period instead of being spoon-fed. Healthcare professionals have expressed concerns about adequacy of iron and energy intake, and about choking, for infants following Baby-Led Weaning. METHODS We developed a modified version of BLW, Baby-Led Introduction to SolidS (BLISS), to a...
متن کاملHow Feasible Is Baby-Led Weaning as an Approach to Infant Feeding? A Review of the Evidence
Baby-Led Weaning (BLW) is an alternative method for introducing complementary foods to infants in which the infant feeds themselves hand-held foods instead of being spoon-fed by an adult. The BLW infant also shares family food and mealtimes and is offered milk (ideally breast milk) on demand until they self-wean. Anecdotal evidence suggests that many parents are choosing this method instead of ...
